Books, Brews and Boards: New Businesses Come to the South Bay

Check out some of these new businesses in the South Bay.

In the last few months of 2011, several new businesses popped up around the South Bay. Here are some of the establishments looking to make their mark on 2012.

The Book Frog
550 Deep Valley Dr., Suite 273, Rolling Hills Estates

With the closure of Borders in the , Palos Verdes book lovers were forced to drive to Torrance to get their fiction fix. Now, bookworms can check out , an independent bookstore that opened in the Promenade in November. Run by former Borders employees, the shop features general fiction and nonfiction, cookbooks, children's books and a shelf dedicated to mysteries and thrillers set in Los Angeles, among others.

1613 South Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach

Think of it as a beer lovers' paradise. Located where used to be, in Riviera Village will offer more than 300 bottles of beer and 12 rotating beer taps. The establishment plans to finally open its doors Jan. 13.

TARSAN
936 Hermosa Ave., Suite 105, Hermosa Beach

It was only a matter of time before a shop catering specifically to stand-up paddleboard enthusiasts opened in the South Bay. , which recently opened in Hermosa Beach, sells boards and paddles in addition to offering rentals and lessons in the sport, according to its website.

Two Guns Espresso
350 North Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach

Featuring cups of coffee brewed from Caffe Vita beans, tea from the Art of Tea and baked goods from the local Cake Bakeshop, Two Guns Espresso is a "mostly local affair," according to Eater L.A.
