The Palos Verdes Art Center, a non-profit community organization, was founded in 1931 as the Palos Verdes Community Arts Association. It began as the cultural arm of the planned community of Palos Verdes Estates. Through the years it has provided visual arts exhibitions, studio art and music lessons and other cultural programs to the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the entire South Bay. After years of presenting exhibitions in the Malaga Cove Library and offering classes at scattered sites throughout the area, the Art Center moved to its permanent location on Crestridge Road location in 1974. The campus was expanded in 1982 with the addition of a third building.

Looking ahead to the future, with a complete redevelopment of the facility to better meet the burgeoning demand for its art classes and workshops, exhibitions, outreach programs, and community events, a special presentation will be made at 6:30pm to introduce Harylene J. Norris, Honorary Chair of the Community Campaign for the 80th Anniversary Legacy Campaign.  The 80th Anniversary Legacy Campaign is the boldest and most important initiative in the Art Center’s history to fund the “new” Palos Verdes Art Center and to further strengthen the Art Center’s endowment.
