Disney Magic Comes to RHE Friday

The 'Aladdin Jr.' musical will run at the Norris Theatre Aug. 5-14.

Palos Verdes residents can revel in carpet rides, genie magic and over-the-top wishes this month as Disney’s stage musical “Aladdin Jr.” comes to the Norris Theatre for nine performances, Aug. 5-14.

The production, featuring actors through age 18, is presented by the Norris Center for the Performing Arts’ education department.

Academy Award-winning songs like "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me" will be featured, in addition to favorite characters Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar, Iago and the blue Genie.

"With the professional sets, costumes and dazzling dance numbers, ‘Aladdin' will be a feast for the eyes and ears and a magical treat for the entire family,” said James Gruessing, executive director of the Norris Center of the Performing Arts, and director of the production in a statement. “However, the real heart of this entertaining musical is the timeless messages about the power of friendship and the importance of staying true to oneself.”

“Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.” plays Aug. 5-7 and 11-14 at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Ticket prices are $16 for students and $23 for adults, plus a $2 per ticket education building surcharge.
