Rancho Palos Verdes residents have until Jan. 17 to dispose of their excess trash and recycling on their regular waste collection day, according to a notice from the city of RPV.

Both EDCO and Universal Waste Systems are offering residential customers extra holiday trash collection.

Residents who wish to take advantage of this should place any extra trash in additional standard-size waste cans or in trash bags next to their regular gray trash carts on trash collection days, according to the city.

Extra cardboard can be flattened and placed next to the blue recycling cart.

Both trash collectors offer free, limited collection of bulky items and electronics, such as sofas, televisions, computers and mattresses; however, the city advises residents to donate any items that are in good shape and can be reused.

To schedule a special collection for bulky items, residents should call their waste hauler. EDCO can be contacted at 310-540-2977 and UWS at 800-631-7016.
