High Surf Advisory Issued for PV

The National Weather Service issues a high surf advisory for west- and northwest-facing beaches.

A high surf advisory issued late Tuesday night will continue to be in effect through midday Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Gale force northwesterly winds will continue across portions of the coastal waters through Thursday," meteorologists said. "The building wind-generated waves will propagate toward the coast and produce large breakers at many of the west and northwest facing beaches," such as some off the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Waves of 6-8 feet are expected at short intervals, according to the NWS.

"A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion," forecasters said.
