4 Earthquakes Strike off Peninsula

The four temblors struck south of the Palos Verdes Peninsula early Friday morning.

A series of four earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 2.1 to 2.9 struck south of the Palos Verdes Peninsula early Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The largest temblor—magnitude-2.9—rattled residents at about 4:25 a.m. According to the USGS Community Internet Intensity Map, 88 people in 13 ZIP codes reported feeling the earthquake.

The first earthquake, a magnitude-2.8, hit about five minutes before the largest one. Those two quakes were followed by a magnitude-2.6 at 4:47 a.m. and a magnitude-2.1 at 5:03 a.m.

There do not appear to have been any reports of injuries or damage.
