Peninsula Boys JV Team Travels to Leuzinger in search of Revenge!

On Tuesday afternoon the Peninsula Boys JV Team travelled down to Leuzinger HS in Lawndale looking for some pay back due to losing to Leuzinger on Monday night 52-50.

It was quite obvious from the beginning of the game that the Panthers were a much different team than the one that faced the Olympians on Monday at Peninsula. The Panthers were focused and determined that they were not going to be intimidated by the Olympians. The Panthers came out and matched the aggressiveness of the Olympians and took a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter began with a continuation of the effort in the first with the Panthers playing hard on defense and very patient on the offensive end of the floor. The panthers matched the Olympians shot for shot in the second quarter and outscored them 10-8 to lead at halftime 24-21.

The third quarter began and the Panthers started to look like the team that had faced the Olympians on Monday where they did not move the ball on offense and often took the first available shot. The Panthers also saw their shooting go cold and could only manage 4 points in the quarter. The Panthers did maintain more of a focus on the defensive end and only allowed the Olympians 11 points in the quarter to trail heading into the fourth and final quarter 32-28.

The fourth quarter began and the team that had shown up in the first half was back and with a renewed defensive intensity the Panthers began forcing the Olympians into numerous mistakes and turnovers. The Panthers also started to run and the Olympians were not able to keep up with them. The Panthers outscored the Olympians 21-11 in the quarter to take the victory 49-43. The Panthers are now 4-3 in the Bay League and 10-8 overall and they next travel to Palos Verdes for a game on Friday against their rival.
