Palos Verdes Peninsula Republican Assembly Announces
Founding Member Cherie Bennett Memorial Services
Cherie Weicker Bennett, a 55 year resident of Rolling Hills, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2014. She was 85 years old. Cherie was a loving wife, devoted mother and a loyal friend. She was born in the state of New York, on September 8, 1928 to Theodore Weicker Jr. and Schatz Adams. A graduated from Marymount High School in Santa Barbara and attended the Paris Sorbonne University.

Cherie met and married John McCoid Bennett November 7, 1957 at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes CA; together they raised six children in Rolling Hills.
She attended Church regularly and was active in many organizations, including the California Republican Assembly; (in 1978 she and her husband Rev. John Bennett became the Founding Members of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Republican Assembly [PVP RA] a local chapter of the CRA); (she served as President of) The Palos Verdes Peninsula Republican Womens Federated [PVP RWF], The Navy League, Society of Mayflower Descendants and Jules Stein Institute. Cherie is also remembered as the hostess of many magnificent parties at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas she opened her home to many other worthy organizations and causes throughout the years.

She is survived by her children: John "Jay" McCoid Bennett Jr. (Siw), William Sterling Bennett (Rhonda), Sean Adams Bennett (Leslie), Theodore Weicker Bennett, Mitchell Ayres Quillen Bennett (Nancy), Serena Cherie Bennett Padian (John), 17 grand children, 2 great-grand children, her brother Theodore Weicker III, and sister Juliet Weicker.
