Man Pleads No Contest to Mail, ID Theft

Carl "Mike" Hovland faces sentencing for grand theft stemming from mail stolen from Rolling Hills homes last year and identify theft and narcotics possession in Redondo Beach.

Carl "Mike" Hovland of Rollings Hills is scheduled for sentencing March 6 after pleading no contest to charges stemming from the theft of mail from numerous Rolling Hills homes.

Hovland, who grew up in the gated city, was living at 77 Eastfield Drive at the time of the mail thefts. He used the stolen mail to commit identify theft, the Lomita Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

According to the Daily Breeze, Hovland, 31, must stay out of Rolling Hills. He will be placed in a drug-rehabilitation program and serve 5 years' probation.
